Of The Many Reasons I Love You

A creative writing exercise about a good friend.

Of the many reasons I love you, here’s one.

You stay by my side

Loyal through and through

We want to make it better

All we can do is be kind

And wait

And wait

And wait

Perhaps we place the blame too harshly

“If they weren't so immature”

We say

We try to be fair

“Maybe they didn’t mean it that way”

We say

We want to make it better

We want them to not hurt

We think about their feelings too much

It ends just the same anyway
