You may ask yourself how your friends always find opportunities to serve. Perhaps you see opportunities when it's too late to participate. How do people find out about these? In this article, I'll help you discover the best way for you to find out about service opportunities.
Volunteer Websites
Websites such as Just Serve advertise volunteer opportunities in specific areas, as anyone can post an opportunity they created or heard about. Volunteer websites are a great way to stay informed!
Social Media
Start a collection of volunteer accounts in your area- perhaps an organization nearby frequently posts about opportunities for service, or the official government account for your area reposts volunteer opportunities that they're tagged in.
You can even start your own account as a one-stop-shop for service opportunities in your area!
Bulletin Boards
Bulletin boards at schools, offices and government buildings often advertise volunteer events that are open for anyone to join! There are often digital versions of these bulletin boards on the business's website
Research
There may be unique opportunities in your area. Ask around, google different keywords and find or create your own! My hometown has unique opportunities through the Draper Community Foundation, which is entirely volunteer-run but partners with the city to create community events, trail clean-ups and much more!
